PREAMBLE

This document sets forth the Terms and Conditions (hereinafter "Terms") governing exclusively the participation in the open call COCA PROJECT 5th Edition 2026.27, which is separate and distinct from the general Terms and Conditions of the website. These Terms apply between you (hereinafter "you" or "Participant") and COCA PROJECT (hereinafter "COCA PROJECT" or "We"), with registered office in Italy, VAT IT03235010737, owner and operator of the website cocaproject.art, all related websites, services and trademarks.

By completing and submitting the "Apply Now" application form and ticking the acceptance checkbox, the Participant declares to have read, understood and fully accepted:

  • these Terms and Conditions of the open call COCA PROJECT 5th Edition 2026.27;
  • the general Terms and Conditions of the COCA PROJECT website, available at any time at: cocaproject.art/terms-and-conditions/

In the event of any conflict between these Terms and the general website Terms, these open call Terms shall prevail. Participants are strongly encouraged to read both documents carefully before submitting their application.

ART. 1 – RULES AND ELIGIBILITY

The open call COCA PROJECT 5th Edition 2026.27 opens on 1 June 2026 at 00:01 (Italian time, GMT+1) and closes on 20 September 2026. Participants may apply by clicking the "Apply Now" button available at cocaproject.art/coca-open-call/ and following the guided submission process.

The open call is open to artists of all nationalities. Participants must be at least 18 years of age at the date of registration. Collaborative projects are accepted. Each participant may submit one or more projects. Each project must contain a minimum of one artwork and a maximum of two, which will be reviewed by COCA PROJECT. Images of artworks must be uploaded in JPG or JPEG format and each individual image must not exceed 4 Megabytes.

Free pre-selection. Participation in the pre-selection phase is entirely free of charge. The registration fee of € 67.00 per project is due exclusively by artists selected during the pre-selection phase, as confirmation of their participation. This fee covers the costs of candidate selection, online publication on cocaproject.art, and inclusion in the editorial catalogues of the thematic journals ÉTOILE, LUMIÈRE and ECLIPSE. The fee is expressed in EUR and is in no way refundable, not even partially, for any reason whatsoever, including the voluntary withdrawal of the Participant or the failure to carry out activities due to force majeure.

The results of the selection will be published on cocaproject.art on 20 October 2026.

By accepting these Terms, the Participant expressly and irrevocably acknowledges that all decisions of COCA PROJECT — relating to selection, evaluation of artworks, assignment of opportunities, and any other aspect of the open call — are final, binding and unappealable. No right of appeal, contestation or reimbursement is provided for. Participation in the open call and related activities is not valid in countries where prohibited by applicable law.

ART. 2 – ACTIVITIES AND OPPORTUNITIES

COCA PROJECT will select artists from the finalists for project development through co-financing between COCA PROJECT and/or partners, collectors and/or artists. Each project selected from the finalists will be subject to further review by private and/or public entities to verify feasibility.

The following opportunities are available:

1. Artistic Production Grants

Financial support for the realisation of artistic projects (budget defined upon artist's request), 2026.27.

2. Artist Residencies — COCA SUMMER 2027

The artist residencies are independently organised and managed by COCA PROJECT's respective partners. COCA PROJECT bears no responsibility for the organisation, operational management or any issues of any nature arising in connection with the residencies.

Residencies are available to two categories of participants:

ARTIST

Artists selected through the COCA PROJECT 5th Edition 2026.27 open call (cocaproject.art/coca-open-call/). They may access both free and subsidised residencies, as assigned by the jury.

ARTIST LOVER

Art enthusiasts who apply through the dedicated form (cocaproject.art/coca-summer/). The application is free of charge and does not require the payment of any registration fee. Artist Lovers have access exclusively to subsidised residencies, with a reduction of approximately 50% on the accommodation cost applied directly by the partner venue. One accompanying guest is included, also at a subsidised rate.

Nicanto Luxury — Taranto (TA), Italy

10 artist residencies in 2027: 4 free of charge (reserved for Artists) and 6 subsidised (available to both Artists and Artist Lovers). Maximum duration: 10 days each. One accompanying guest included free of charge for Artists / at subsidised rate for Artist Lovers.

La Dimora del Principe — Grottaglie (TA), Italy

6 artist residencies in 2027: 3 free of charge (reserved for Artists) and 3 subsidised (available to both Artists and Artist Lovers). Maximum duration: 5 days each. One accompanying guest included free of charge for Artists / at subsidised rate for Artist Lovers.

Residencies include accommodation only at the partner venue for the number of nights specified. Not included and remaining exclusively at the Participant's expense: meals, beverages, transportation, flights, transfers, travel insurance, medical expenses, extra activities, additional services offered by the venue, and any other expense not expressly stated in this article. COCA PROJECT bears no responsibility for costs, damages or inconveniences of any nature relating to the stay at partner venues.

3. International Publication

Selected artworks will be published in the three thematic journals: ÉTOILE (Matter & Line), LUMIÈRE (Light & Pixel), ECLIPSE (Body & Space).

4. Honorary Mentions

Six honorary mentions will be awarded by the jury.

5. Online Portfolio

Finalist profiles will be published on cocaproject.art.

ART. 3 – ELIGIBLE ARTISTIC DISCIPLINES

Artists may submit works in any medium or material, including previously published works; the artist must be living. Finalist artists wishing to access the artist residency will be asked to provide additional documentation and details of available works. There are no size or duration restrictions on submitted works.

Eligible disciplines are divided into the following three thematic categories:

ÉTOILE – Matter & Line:  Ceramic · Painting · Installation · Illustration

LUMIÈRE – Light & Pixel:  Digital Art · Video Art · Photography · Documentary

ECLIPSE – Body & Space:  Performance · Street Art · Land Art · Sculpture

ART. 4 – PARTICIPANT OBLIGATIONS

By completing and submitting the "Apply Now" application form and ticking the acceptance checkbox of these Terms and Conditions, the Participant joins the COCA PROJECT 5th Edition 2026.27 open call and fully accepts these Terms and Conditions.

The Participant acknowledges that the registration fee of € 67.00, payable exclusively upon selection, is non-refundable under any circumstances, including voluntary withdrawal, retraction of the application, or any event beyond COCA PROJECT's control.

The Participant acknowledges that, regardless of the outcome of the pre-selection and any payment of the registration fee, all material submitted during the application process — including images, descriptive texts and any other content — may be used by COCA PROJECT for its communication, promotion and documentation activities, including but not limited to: website, social media channels, catalogues, editorial publications and promotional materials for current and future editions, without any additional compensation being due to the Participant.

The Participant also authorises COCA PROJECT to permanently publish their profile and project on the results page should they be shortlisted. The Participant acknowledges that they may not delete or modify images of their submitted project from the COCA PROJECT website, nor alter their order, unless permitted by the system or upon written request to withdraw from the open call.

By accepting these Terms and participating in the COCA PROJECT 5th Edition 2026.27 open call, the Participant warrants that all information submitted is true, current and complete. They further warrant that they hold all necessary consents for participation and are the copyright owner of the submitted works — including photographs, texts and drawings — and that COCA PROJECT's use of such works shall be free of charge, shall not infringe any third-party rights and shall hold COCA PROJECT fully harmless from any claim, demand for compensation or legal action arising from third-party rights infringement.

ART. 5 – COCA PROJECT OBLIGATIONS

COCA PROJECT undertakes to deliver the opportunities set out in Art. 2 of these Terms within the timeframes established upon announcement of the selection results, provided that the recipient communicates to COCA PROJECT via email (i) valid and complete bank details and (ii) a copy of a valid identity document within 30 days of the final announcement.

COCA PROJECT will notify each recipient of the results at the email address associated with the submission by 20 October 2026. The recipient will have 15 days from the date of notification to respond to COCA PROJECT and proceed with the planned activities. Should COCA PROJECT be unable to contact the artist, or should the artist fail to respond within the stipulated period, this may result in the forfeiture of the assigned opportunities, with COCA PROJECT reserving the right to select an alternative artist in accordance with these Terms.

COCA PROJECT reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to refuse or revoke an opportunity in the event of non-compliance with these Terms, violation of the website terms of use, fraud, dishonesty or other inappropriate conduct, including but not limited to the use of technologies that circumvent participation requirements, without this giving rise to any right to reimbursement or compensation on the part of the Participant.

COCA PROJECT undertakes to always credit the artist's name in connection with any works used and to respect copyright in all circumstances. The Participant retains full copyright ownership of their works at all times. COCA PROJECT will never claim ownership thereof.

ART. 6 – LICENCES AND IMAGE USAGE RELEASE

By submitting their project via the "Apply Now" form, the Participant grants COCA PROJECT a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual and worldwide licence to use submitted content — including photographs, videos, texts, sketches and any other material — for the following purposes:

  • Publication on the cocaproject.art website and COCA PROJECT's official social media channels;
  • Inclusion in the catalogues and editorial publications of the three thematic journals ÉTOILE, LUMIÈRE and ECLIPSE;
  • Promotional materials and press releases relating to COCA PROJECT editions;
  • Photographic and video documentation of artist residencies and project activities;
  • Any other use related to the promotion and institutional communication of COCA PROJECT, present and future.

The Participant declares to be the sole copyright holder of the submitted works, or to have obtained all necessary authorisations from the rights holders, and agrees to indemnify and hold COCA PROJECT harmless from any claim, damage, cost or legal expense arising from third-party rights infringement.

Where submitted works contain identifiable individuals, the Participant declares to have obtained explicit written consent from each such person for the publication of their image for the purposes stated above.

Works containing images of minors. Where submitted works contain images of individuals who have not reached the age of majority in their country of residence, the Participant bears sole responsibility for obtaining written consent from the parent or legal guardian prior to submission. COCA PROJECT disclaims all liability in connection with the failure to obtain such consents and reserves the right to remove any content for which the existence of the necessary authorisations cannot be demonstrated, without prior notice and without this giving rise to any right to reimbursement.

The Participant retains full copyright ownership of their works in all circumstances. This licence does not imply any transfer of intellectual property rights in favour of COCA PROJECT.

ART. 7 – FINAL DECISIONS AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

All decisions made by COCA PROJECT in connection with the open call — including, by way of example and without limitation, the selection or rejection of projects, the evaluation of artworks, the assignment of opportunities, the interpretation of these Terms and any other determination of an organisational, artistic or administrative nature — are final, binding and unappealable. The Participant expressly waives any right to challenge, contest or appeal such decisions.

COCA PROJECT shall not be liable in any case for: direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages arising from participation in the open call; failure to deliver opportunities due to force majeure, unforeseeable events or causes beyond COCA PROJECT's control; technical failures, website interruptions or malfunctions of the submission platform; acts, conduct or omissions of the residency partner venues.

ART. 8 – DISPUTES AND JURISDICTION

These Terms and Conditions are governed by Italian law. For any dispute relating to the interpretation, performance or termination of these Terms, as well as any aspect of the COCA PROJECT 5th Edition 2026.27 open call, the parties agree that the Court of Taranto (Italy) shall have exclusive jurisdiction, expressly excluding any other court, even if concurrently competent by law. The Participant expressly accepts this clause of derogation from territorial jurisdiction.

These Terms and Conditions are drafted in the Italian language, which constitutes the official and authentic version of the document. Any translation into another language — for informational purposes or international communication needs — shall be for reference only. The original Italian text shall prevail exclusively in all cases. Any discrepancy, ambiguity or conflict between the Italian version and any translation shall be resolved by reference solely to the Italian text.

ART. 9 – RIGHT TO CANCEL, SUSPEND AND MODIFY

Should the COCA PROJECT 5th Edition 2026.27 open call be unable to proceed as intended for any reason — including bugs, viruses, cyberattacks, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other cause beyond COCA PROJECT's control — COCA PROJECT reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the open call at any time, without notice and without this giving rise to any right to reimbursement or compensation on the part of Participants.

COCA PROJECT further reserves the right to make changes, additions or updates to this open call and these Terms and Conditions at any time, by publishing the updated version on cocaproject.art. Changes will take effect from the date of publication and will apply to all applications already received, to the extent permitted by law. Continued participation following publication of any changes shall constitute acceptance thereof.

ART. 10 – PRIVACY

The processing of Participants' personal data is carried out in accordance with EU Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR) and applicable Italian legislation. Please refer to the Privacy Policy available at cocaproject.art.

ART. 8 – CONTROVERSIE E FORO COMPETENTE
