Possibly Maybe (Ultramarine) 2023
In her works dealing with digital processes, Ulrike Kazmaier explores the question of what happens when those moments that evade our perception become visible: small, inconspicuous traces of something, grids, color changes or simply entities that we see as ‘glitches’. , read as disturbances or mere functional things. Possibly Maybe (Ultramarine) deals with the moment of noise. The formation of the wall objects, which can be interpreted associatively in very different directions – whether as island formations or organic growths – goes back to glitches, i.e. disruptive moments in the picture. Those formations that seem fluffy and hard at the same time result from a zoom-in process in which the the photographic suddenly reveals places that cannot be classified. Worked with a strong color presence and feel, the objects refer to a level that is usually denied to the digital, but which Kazmaier finds multi-sensory focus on: materiality.

Touch It 2023
When does something become an image? And what do we actually see when we see pictures? In her artistic exploration, Kazmaier creates objects that are always transitional objects. In their indeterminacy, they tempt you to touch, test and understand: they indispensably intertwine the eye and the hand. In the work Touch it, this haptic-visual interweaving is also present in the motifs. The work, consisting of six fine art prints, follows the theme of touch, which has become an everyday and casual experience for us as a touch screen experience. The touching hand, i.e. the gesture itself, becomes visible here, while the object of the touch passes into a blank space. At the same time, the screen experience doubles with Touch it, because we not only see references to an absent screen, but the images themselves appear as vibrating screen recordings in light boxes, interspersed with interference patterns.
