Sense, interactive installation 2015
The interactive installation consists of two elements, a male and a female torso. An abstract image is projected onto each. The male torso has small sensors that can be touched to change the image projected onto the female torso. Gender provocatively objectifies the male and places him in the socially accepted female role.
Alpha, brainwave based video installation 2019
The artist is wearing a brainwave sensor that constantly measures her brain activity.
It processes the frequencies, which represent the activity status on a scale, from meditation to attention. When her attention becomes higher than 50%, one tweet becomes visible and readable from the continuously and fast-changing sentences. The 50 tweets are selected from Twitter feed randomly. At the beginning of the sentence is the name of the Twitter user.
On the other hand, the level of meditation controls the visibility of the Twitter feeds. When the meditation level is high, the tweets fade away. The video loop mix is based on the real-time incoming data from the sensors. The data coming from the sensor (delta, theta, low alpha, low beta, low gamma brainwaves) are assigned to 5 video loops. The higher the intensity of the brainwaves, the more visible the corresponding video becomes. The created images are meant to resemble memories, they are not clear, more dream-like.

Réka is a media designer and experimental video artist. Founder of Connected Bodies Team, contributing artist at several projects.
She graduated from MOME (Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design) with an MA in Media Design in 2007. After university she tried herself in various areas, working in digital media and film production. She attended the Doctoral Programme of the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts earning her DLA degree with ‘summa cum laude’ distinction in 2016. Her research theme was Sensor-based interactive installations within New technologies in Fine Art. In the last few years, she was mainly interested in human-computer interaction, object-based interface prototypes, and bio-sensors. Making the focus of her practice-based research. Her work has been recognized through performances, exhibitions, and presentations. Biofeedback-art is her passion.
