Daniela, Portrait of my mother 2025
I started photographing my mother to learn how to use a camera. I continued doing so in order to spend some time with her. I'm still photographing her to witness and tell our story. Photography is a sort of bridge in our relationship and helps me to know her.
I don't mean that photography can fill the communication gap between us, but it is one of the very few contact and discussion moments between us,. The project is called "Daniela, portait of my mother", but it's not only my mother's portrait. In this work I represent her life's situations or events, but also the ones that directly impacted on me, as well as my own family experiences. Sometimes I simply try to stage situations that become real, and a memory, in the very moment I shoot them.
“Of course, some painful cracks developed in my soul, and i lived away from reality for who knows how long”. This is one of the sentences my mother wrote in her diary; an important reference point for this work

Niko Giovanni Coniglio, nato a Poggibonsi (SI) il 26 Ottobre 1987, laureato con lode in Scienze della Comunicazione all’Università degli Studi di Siena, ottiene nel 2011 un master in Fotografia all’Accademia delle Belle Arti di Brera.
Nel 2012 ha iniziato una collaborazione come freelance con la rivista Jazzit. Nel 2017 ha partecipato alla seconda edizione di Master of Photography, reality show sulla fotografia in onda su SkyArte.
Ha collaborato, fra gli altri, con Vogue Italia, Montblanc Italia, Sammontana, Sony Music Italia, Sugar Music, Picicca Records, Rizzoli libri, Il Corriere della Sera, Riders Magazine, International Music & Arts, Galleria Continua San Gimignano.
