In the shadow of the moon 2018

The point of reference for the work is a classic of German literature. “Anton Reiser”, written by Karl Philip Moritz in the late 18th century. It is the (almost) autobiographical story from the narrator’s childhood. As an unloved son, he is deported to a boarding school in a foreign city and goes through torturous years there. Although written a long time ago, the book is spectacularly topical. Because it unfolds a level of sadness that is unparalleled and which the reader inevitably projects onto his own youth experiences. The ambitious plans nurtured by the adolescent have fizzled out, his dreams have all been shattered, and a deep unconscious feeling grips the young Anton Reiser: he, who has made such extreme efforts to find a secure place in life, who has tried to overcome inner and outer crises, now realizes that he has merely gone around in circles, that in the end he has not reached his goal. The densely captured mood of the hero of the novel is transported as installation.
