Within and Without 2020
In this collage one of the artists inserts her body underneath images referencing targets, destruction and war, while the other photographs her. In this way the artists use the female body as a way to connect the past and present as experienced through the trauma of violence.

Labkhand Olfatmanesh & Gazelle Samizay
Labkhand Olfatmanesh’s work has been exhibited at Photo London U.K., Rencontres d’Arles, France; 4 Culture, Seattle; FestFoto Brazil; the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery; and Craft Contemporary, Los Angeles. She has received awards from LACP and LensCulture. Olfatmanesh received a B.A. in Graphic Design from Azad Tehran University School of Art and Architecture and received a Certificate in Studio Photography at the London Academy of Radio, Film, and Television.
Gazelle Samizay received her MFA in photography at the University of Arizona and her art has recently been exhibited at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery and the California Museum of Photography. Her work is included in the permanent collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; the Center for Photography at Woodstock, NY; and En Foco, NY. Samizay has received awards from Craft Contemporary, Los Angeles and the Princess Grace Foundation, NY. She is currently an artist-in-resident at the Torrance Art Museum, CA.
