Safe Haven #15. 2018
Mixed media work, 25×25 cm, derived from my practice as a designer of abstract strategy games. It represents a “King”, which I used to implement as a “multiplication, decontextualization and appropriation”. These notions often come up in the debate about contemporary art—put forth by “connoisseurs”, not by the public. Their meaning is quite ambiguous, and therefore suitable as argument to turn something highbrow into something lowbrow and something apparently provocative into something popular.

Multiplicated, Decontextualized and Appropriated [Vol. 16.2]. 2018
Digital implementation of Safe Haven #15, 3400×3400 pixels. Both the previous and this image are part of a series of originals and their digital “multiplication, decontextualization and appropriation”. Each work is provided with a short text. I am planning an expo with these triptychs (original+implementation+text), with the purpose to release the publication of “Il Conformista”—“A Suspiciously Abstract Graphic Instagram Novel”.
The draft version can be previewed on Instagram @krisburm, starting from Safe Haven #1 (feed March 29) to where I am at the present.
