Concentric circles 2024

100x100cm square, four layers of coloured paper: larkspur blue, carnation, crimson and china blue. The layers of paper have been cut into with curved cuts, on a concentric grid of circles. The curves are smaller at the bottom than they are at the top. As the viewer walks around the piece, the colours create a vivid movement and almost optical illusion of shape and form.
Work is framed in a 5 cm deep oak box frame with uv proof clear colour glass.

Eclipse 2024

80cm x 80 cm, This piece is made from three layers of paper, two black and one white. from the left the piece looks completely black. As you move towards the right, a form is revealed in white. Two circumferences nearly touch, with a diagonal line supporting them.
This piece is framed in a tulip wood box frame which is 4cm deep, hand painted black with uv proof clear colour glass.

Katherine Rose

Katherine Anne Rose is an artist, photographer and maker living and working in Glasgow, Scotland. She makes large scale works with layered paper. She cuts and folds out shapes and forms to make three dimensional pieces. Utilising light and shadow, each work transforms as you move around them and under different light. Her work is a study in precision and the material qualities of paper and the artist’s relationship to her chosen medium.
Since graduating from Glasgow School of Art, Rose has exhibited widely in Scotland and beyond. Her photographic work can regularly be seen in The Guardian and Observer newspapers.
Her most recent exhibition, 'Waves' held in June 2024 was featured on the cover of the 'Scotland on Sunday' newspaper.
