Orbiting Mantra 2020
Infinité, Weisser Elefant Gallery, Berlin 2020: 2 sound channels, transducers and object trouvé (engraved metal trays). Orbiting Mantra is a slowly evolving sonic composition, which invites the visitor to orbit around hanging resonating plates, or to stand between them taking a sonic bath. Sound exciters transmit vibration onto the metallic surfaces, enhancing the metallic character of the sound. The composition is made of various parts that inter fade slowly with the idea to put the visitor into another sloved down perceptual mode. On the turkish tea trays of special resonant qualities, there are engraved like a visual notation, intertwined spirals, the sound spins endlessly, and the visitor mirrors with his circular movement the repetition of a spatial infinity. The atmospheric composition expands into the room. The exhibition “Infinité” was held in honor to the great female Pioneer of Electronic Music Eliane Radigue, for her 88th birthday in January 2020

Katharina Bévand
Germany
Katharina Bévand is a sound artist based in Berlin. She creates site-specific sound installations in uncommon architectonic spaces. Her sound is characterised by atmospheric drones elaborated from fieldrecordings, synthesizer sounds. The body of the visitor in movement enables a perceptual immersive and physical aesthetic experience of negative and positive spaces in their intersections, borders and transitions; witnessing changes in states, influences and symbiotic behaviour between human and architectonic bodies, objects and open environments. Space imprints us, as we imprint it. In 2017 she was awarded an honorary mention by the »bonn hoeren – sonotopia« contest of the Beethoven Foundation for Arts and Culture Bonn. In 2020 she exhibited alongside the electronic music and synthesizer pioneer Eliane Radigue or Carsten Nicolai. She exhibited internationally at FK:K IV Festival Bamberg, LTK4 Cologne, DARB1718 Egypt, Madou Sugar Factory Art Triennial in Taiwan, etc.
