X or the untitled 2024
The installation places the viewer – as a visitor from a distant future – in a ritualistic, cave-like space. It is a setting for future ceremonies in a society where humans no longer exist and robots carry on our traditions as a persistent echo of humanity.
Objects, electronic artifacts, sculptures, mechanized objects, sounds, lights and video projections reveal unique rituals and traditions in a post-sapiens society, providing an ironic view of how these artifacts were utilized in different ceremonies and traditions. They create a strangely distorted yet oddly familiar solemn atmosphere.
This project is based on Karla's current research, which delves deeper into global human traditions, explores the entangled relationship between spirits and technology, examines gender perspectives on spirituality, and explores interconnectedness with nature. Through this research, she creates a series of science fiction artifacts merging traditional craft techniques with contemporary materials.
Ghost in the Wall 2019
A magical sequence of weird occurrences. Rotating platforms, comic-like objects and characters, loops, sound-scape and moving shadows are combined to create a magic experience and letting the viewer dive into the improbable world of ghostly- dark and frightening-dreamy coincidences, where all seems connected and everything and nothing seems possible.
The shadows of the past. The shadows of the present. Our own shadows melting with those of the others. The ghosts of our own fears… a chaos of interwoven situations….
An installation about the non cuantificable, about very old inner fears and outer projections of common panics.

Karla Kracht

Karla Kracht, a Barcelona-based multidisciplinary artist, fuses video art, illustration, animation, sculpture, electronics, and performance. Her award-winning work, shown worldwide, includes venues like the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, Puppetry Art Center Taipei, and Digital Arts Festival Athens. Known for her site-specific, immersive multimedia performances, she combines handmade puppets and objects with advanced technology to create retro-futuristic techno-sculptures and dynamic stage universes. Kracht's work often features mythological cyborgs and contemporary socio-political narratives. She immerses herself in diverse cultures during international residencies, which profoundly influence her intercultural approach. Currently, she explores mystical themes and post-human scenarios.
