Ora Maritima 2024
Ora Maritima is the name of the work of the Roman poet Rufus Festo Avieno, written in the 4th century AD and which describes the coasts of that sea that they called Mare Nostrum, and that some time later the Spanish bishop Saint Isidore of Seville baptized as Medi Terraneum. As an inland sea, the second largest in the world, it collects sediments from the countless cultures that have populated it, sediments that make up a gigantic mosaic, with the water, salty and mainly blue, acting as a binder, and allowing it to flow, if possible, only with the help of the wind.
The artistic work Ora Maritima configures visual mosaics extracted from images taken by the author along the Mediterranean Sea, the Balearic Islands, Sardinia, Taranto or Croatia, are points of departure and passage of a trip, which for the moment Ithaca does not encounter, but that find visual pigments to configure images that at a certain moment stop being static and let themselves be carried away also by the wind.
