“Arch Hands”. 2017

“Arch Hands” is photographic project which has been going on for the last 3 years, due to my participation in 3 different archaeology excavations in Egypt and Iraq. The aim with the project is to portrait the hands of the workers. Central to this series and the book which will be published in June 2018, is the interaction between archeologist and workmen from local communities. Although archaeological projects in the Middle East are typically collaborative endeavours involving foreign, Iraq and Egyptian universities, antiquity departments, archaeologist, experts and researchers, the simple fact is that without the participation of local workmen excavations would be impossible. Their manual labour makes the act of large scale excavations feasible!
