‘Millennial Nostalgia’ 2018

I use as a metaphor for my generation -the so-called Millennial- in a group of characters, who provide toys or cartoons from the 80s -among them ‘My Little Pony’, ‘The Teddy Bears’, the ‘PinyPon’, or elements of the anime – to make them dialogue with current issues, iconic relaunches in fashion, pop culture, social media, or contemporary art.
In this way I start a conversation with new senses, for abstract moments, is the case of the installation ‘Study of anime pupils’, or with erratic narratives endowed with humor as in the painting ‘Fabulous Christian evocation’, where there is no beginning neither end, but they can be deduced by the spectator. The critical tone is also present as in the diptych “New Sensitivity”, or the dramatic in “Incomfortable Zone”.

Emiliano D’Amato Mateo was born in Tucumán in 1988. He recently lives and works in Buenos Aires. He is a visual artist and has a degree in Plastic Arts (UNT). He received numerous training grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, including: Theoretical Cycle in Visual Arts dictated by numerous teachers and artists, including Carlota Beltrame, Ana Gallardo, Andrés Labaké.
