Sirocco wind 2016
Sirocco wind is an opera born in digital on a beach in Croatia on a windy day while I was watching the sea in the company of our dog Aliseo. Enchanted by the waves on the rocks I wanted to fix on my iPad, through a program of drawing the flashes of light on the waves.
Once back in Italy I sent the file to a Florentine craftsman who processed it and translated into texture and warp digital "brush strokes", obtaining a tapestry created with an old loom that has given the characteristics of weaving of a time. Starting from contemporary tools to make the journey back in time is what fascinates me about this project: bring into concrete dimension through artistic craftsmanship and Fiber art works created digitally (strictly free-hand) in a fusion of ancient and contemporary that crosses the borders of time, as our Mediterranean, true bridge between territories, which over the centuries has been crossed by some of the oldest civilizations on the planet.

Elena De Giorgi

After graduating from the Art School, I worked in advertising agencies in Trieste. During this time, I worked on graphic design, communication, and multimedia projects for some of the city’s largest financial companies. I founded the graphic design studio “Work in Progress plus” in 2000. I have been taking painting and life drawing courses for many years. Fascinated by the potential of digital painting, I have dedicated a lot of time to developing my own particular style, and I have taken part in several exhibitions and competitions, including the Palme d'Or at the Artoulouse international competition in 2013, and the Art in Mind collective exhibition at the Brick Lane Gallery in London, also in 2013. In 2016, I was one of the finalists selected for the exhibition held by the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation in Venice for the Favini international competition “Societies on the Move”, with my illustration entitled “Global Family”. In 2021 selected for Annual italian illustrators.
