Moment in Time 2024

Mixed Media Installation. Wall pieces are mixed media with fluorescent acrylic paint and acrylic paint markers on top of a painters paper drop cloth. The piece to the left has a drawing from a stencil of a succulent. The piece to the right has an mylar overlay in which I created a stencil from one of my photographs I took at night time of a succulent plant. In front of the wall pieces is a chair in which I had fabric draped that I'm considering for new work. The wall pieces are 60"x48". This installation can be viewed under UV light as well.

Fun Fabric 2024

Mixed Media with a canvas background that has a drawing of shadows of foliage. There are two overlays, the first is a fabric and the second overlay is a mylar stencil that I created from one of my night time photos that I took of a succulent plant. I was intrigued how the plant mimicked coral. 60"x42"

Defibaugh has exhibited Nationally and Internationally in solo and group exhibitions. She has attended numerous Artist residencies. She is in prestigious collections including the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody, WY.

Defibaugh has been granted numerous awards. Including being a 2x recipient of the Pollock-Krasner Grant, (2013) & (2011).

Elaine’s work is inspired by the transitional world that we experience, particularly the relationship between natural and man-made environments. With the goal to invite viewers into a dimension that goes beyond 2D and into complex 4D worlds that includes visual layers, textural stories, and an exploration of our environment.

Her murals are on view at Chotto Matte Miami, (2017) and Chotto Matte Toronto, (2018, and Chotto Matte San Francisco, (2023). She also had an elevator installation titled, "Nite Dive", at the Moore Bldg., Miami, (2024)
