Flores 2020

Duda's painting that used to explore everyday scenes translated into abstract gestures that related to the excess of daily information of a great city like Rio de Janeiro. Currently living in Bordeaux, Duda's painting gets a new perspective. The series "Flowers" is a mixture between abstractionism and figurative, where the tropical climate is kept in color, but his gaze and gestures are defined in more organised figures in flower pots, arrangements and in a synchronicity of elements. All in big formats of 180cmx160 approximately.

Lives and works in Bordeaux, France. Duda Moraes was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1985. After graduating in Industrial Design at PUC-Rio, she worked as a textile designer for four years at Ana Laet’s, where she created over 100 original hand-made illustrations of everyday-life objects for top Brazilian fashion brands . Duda gradually replaced the pencils and sketchbooks with ink, oil and large canvases in order to explore the boundaries between figurative and abstraction. Currently, daily-life objects and landscapes still play a central role in Duda’s artwork. Her paintings continue to explore the boundaries between figurative and abstraction which aims to seek the magical impossibility of the unspeakable and translate it into painting, through the silence that is perceived with the eyes, the attentive and present look, in constant movement, full of curiosity and enquiries that result in paintings with a great femininity, a strong mark of her work.
