Transi[Na]tion 2023

This is a sound performance work in progress based on a score for two players performing on the same piano, as well as a tribute to Stockhausen's "Hymnen". I developed this musical composition in three parts, each dedicated to a pair of nations, putting on the same keyboard the portmanteau of two national anthems: the first nation, the host (in this case I chose England, Germany and Italy) and the second nation – according to the Official European Immigration Rankings 2014/15 – represents the majority of the migrant population in the first country (according to the rankings, respectively, Poland, Turkey, Romania).
As in the immigration process we can observe three distinct phases: conflict mediation, integration; similarly the nation's musical identity blends its harmonic characteristics with those of the nation whose citizens are moving to the first nation. (AVAILABLE VIDEO OF LAST PERFORMANCE)

The interdisciplinary work of Lazzaretto (Padua, 1975) involves a relational practice and approach. Interested in the social, political and cultural aspects of contemporary life, his works often use the sound element as the main vehicle of meaning, while maintaining a visual component. Sound artist, composer, teacher, creator of workshops and relational art operations, he took part to numerous international residency programs (Italy, Iceland, Cyprus, the Netherlands, United States). Among the venues that have proposed its work within museums and prestigious Italian and international private institutions, among which: Dortyart Museum (Dordrecht-NL); Macro (Rome), Museum Les Abbattoirs (Toulouse), Italian Institute of Culture (Barcelona), Palace of Arts (Naples); and many more.
