Contacto (series) 2022

This series speaks of the critical condition of the individual where the different layers present in these pieces try to build a story through abstraction and color. The series was made as part of a project on the pandemic and the fear of contamination, where my main interest was to portray different human states during social isolation. As well as the isolation and loneliness in the contacto series I worked on the intensity and significance of human interactions in the context of the covid – 19 pandemic through abstract shapes and forms.

Daniel Barclay

Peru

Born in Lima in 1972.
Barclay has an MFA from Central Saint Martins School of Fine Arts (2004). He has lived in Sao paulo during the period 2012 – 2024 and recently resetled in Lima (Perú). During this period he developed a process that involved drawing, bidimentional objects and performance that adressed different aspecto of materiality in the work of art. Barclay was part of ‘Otrosomos’ an art collective based in Peru, at the same time he further developed his performative practice during the period 2000 and 2010.
He has been part of several artistic residencies, including Curatoria Forense art residency in Sao Paulo (2011), Hermes artes viasuais (Sao Paulo, 2011- 2012), Barcú (Bogotá, 2015), Kaaysá (Sao Paulo 2017). Viafarini (Milano, 2018), NES art residency (Iceland, 2019). Barclay’s work has been shown extensively around Latin America and Europe
