kiss me 2019

Inspired by feelings such as human need and lust, these red, female lips shout out for the need to be in touch with another person, an inner need to feel wanted, desired, sexy, trying to set a challenge to the viewer, trying to be kissed.
“Kiss me” is part of the “Female project” which started in 2019, a series of paintings aiming to express the contemporary women loneliness, fears, challenges and isolation. The whole series is a combination of photorealistic body parts and pop aesthetic lettering.
Theme is painted with oil and acrylic colors on stretched canvas.

cocoon 2019

A fleshy female body, a photorealistic approach of a naked figure, a woman lying in the canvas, hidden in her own art cocoon, trying to escape her reality.
“Cocoon” is part of the “Female project” which started in 2019, a series of paintings aiming to express the contemporary women loneliness, fears, challenges and isolation.
Theme is painted with oil colors on stretched canvas.

mamma 2019

Photorealistic old woman hands in a white, abstract environment. Mother hands portrait, growing older in a gentle, full of dignity and beauty way. The inner beauty, the history of every woman, hands that nourished, took care, caressed and loved. A painting declaring the inheritance of love, the relationship between mother and child, an untold story. A painting about the fear of getting older, of the feeling that time flies through our fingers.

am Christina Michalopoulou, a Greek artist, a contemporary painter living and working in Thessaloniki, Greece. My mediums are acrylic paint or oil colors on large canvas surfaces. My paintings, as my soul, are in a constant battle between abstraction and photorealism. Creating figurative, photorealistic human figures and body parts on one hand, bringing them in total contradiction with hard core contemporary abstraction on the other. Most of the times, I choose to bring the realism of my figures in contrast with an abstract, pop or fictional background as a play of surrealism resemblance to a collage.
I have a Buchelor degree in Marketing (Kingston University London, 1999), have studied Architectural Drawing at Ergastiri School of Arts (worked under mr G.I.Christopoulos, Thessaloniki, 1993) and Drawing & Color Techniques at Psarakis School of Arts (Thessaloniki, 1990).
During the last years, I have had a solo exhibition in Athens and participated in many International Exhibitions, r
