Each image shows a ghost like image of objects/fragments/symbols, making present an absences. The symbolic and allegorical use of the ghost images refer to light (chandelier, splinter light) and destruction (fragments of ceilings, hydra, fragments of wall paper) and amnesia (first names numbers, weathervanes).

Brigitte Jurack

Brigitte Jurack is a German artist working in Liverpool. She studied at the Kunstakademies Düsseldorf before moving to the UK. Her work has been exhibited widely, including solo shows at HOME (2022-3), Williamson Art Gallery (2022), FILET (2018) and IMMA (2010) and inter/national group exhibitions in Düsseldorf, Liverpool, Manchester, Kyoto, Rio di Janeiro, Kiev, Venice, Texas, Hong Kong. She has held fellowships at the British School at Athens, ICI Redcar, EKWC Hertogenbosch and the Sanskriti Foundation, New Delhi. She is co-founder of the artists’ collective Foreign Investment and Alternator Studio Birkenhead. Recent residencies in Switzerland, Austria and Latvia, provide the anchorage for a new body of work, that seeks to make sense of the crisis in Europe, caused by the Russian Invasion of Ukraine, a growing historical amnesia and rising darkness in the eye of the storm (climate change, cultural distance to the land).
