Colours of the Sea 2017

"Colours of the Sea" is an oil painting inspired by the majesty of the ocean, that vast, shimmering expanse that cradles more than 70% of our world. From its depths springs plankton, a microscopic miracle, the wellspring of life and the breath of our planet. These tiny organisms generate over 80% of the oxygen we need to exist. This is a humble tribute to those remarkable beings we called oceans.

Water in motion is very powerful and when it comes from big arteries as the Amazon River, it can deliver up to 20,000 tons every single second, to keep this planet alive. Thanks to those events this Earth is in constant change and evolution.

In 1970 I, Ariel Chavarro Avila was born in the Central Andes Mountains in Colombia. I am an environmental contemporary minimalist artist working in the medium of painting particularly with oil and watercolour. I have been collaborating with artists, art curators, art galleries, foundations, museums and organisations around the world. I have been campaigning to plant millions and billions of trees worldwide and to educate children in poor rural areas globally.
