Flow Water 2024
'Flow Water' is selected from experimental images about place for composition and connections across ecology. There are some special places I visit in north west Queensland for remote environments to collect images and ideas. Subsequent experiments in the studio with water highlight transience across natural elements; intended for digital outcomes. Numerous studies are created in order to add water that often unifies the composition as well as adding the elusive nature of water and plasticity. The series of images are intended for printing onto light metal as part of an installation.
Place 2024
'Place' is from a series of paintings; some on grey Magnani paper, 56 x 76 cm and more on canvas 100 x 130 cm to focus on abstract elements that show the relationships between natural elements. Plants, especially grass and ground covers over natural environments offer potential for rhythm and insight into connecting elements. Other connections are evident in the lie of water and horizons or covered~lost horizons. Figurative things are there behind vigorous growth where grasses cover the strength of hidden trees. A work from these experiments is a 2025 lithograph titled 'from stone and creek'. This series will be available for exhibition as well as works on paper printed digitally.

Lord's art work is informed by Queensland’s dry tropics: inland and coastal. Her formative years were spent 630 km inland. Exhibiting artists have provided art instruction over decades. Her observation of nature in good seasons or drought is the basis for much work. In other work, coastal erosion at tidal zones was exhibited at a contemporary art space and developed for The Strand Re-development public art. Images about erosion and waste as flotsam and jetsam were printed on metal inserted into glass bricks. 2019 work refers to deep time to highlight loss then over production and consumption of plastics. These works reference threats to the natural environment. Threats to place by natural and human made disasters can make us aware of our vulnerable position and potential ability to review our actions. In all work Lord presents beauty in the way natural elements are connected but also compete. Much time is taken to develop abstract elements in relation to the topic.
