"The artist pays homage to figurative representation here: bodies are in relation to one another, clasping one another, tugging at one another; there is an almost violent tone that can be described as taking hold. 'It's also about the glitch,' says the artist. In response to the image prompts from artificial intelligence, Anna Khodorkovskaya has equipped her figures with too many fingers or toes, for example, but of course this is all done by hand and intentionally. These bodies and limbs trigger a deeply contemporary feeling, even if one is reminded of the splendour of baroque figurative representation: fundamental facts are suddenly called into question, nothing and no one is safe anymore."

Anna Khodorkovskaya is an artist born in Moscow in 1985 who has been living and working in Vienna for more than 10 years.
Khodorkovskaya studied printmaking at the Moscow State University of Printing Arts from 2003-2008 and at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna from 2011-2018. In 2014 she received the prestigious Strabag International Art Award, in 2018 she received the Annerkennungspreis of the Academy of Fine Arts for her diploma, and in 2021 she won the prize of the province of Carinthia at the 37th Austrian Graphic Arts Competition. She has been invited to numerous residency programs, exhibits nationally and internationally, and implements projects in public spaces.
Medially, she is mainly engaged in mosaic, painting, drawing and watercolor. However, the artist also works installatively, participatively, and repeatedly in various artist collectives. Her works are exhibited internationally, performed and installed in public space.
